It occurs to me that I should explain the origin of this blog. On the fortieth anniversary of my being raped, I went to the domestic Violence Crises Center and, on a weekly basis, relived in my mind (without the aid of my diary) the events that happened.
After a year, I asked the question “What effect does rape have on the brain.” We were directed to “What effect does trauma have on the brain.” Eventually, I understood that rape is a psychological trauma, and “Trauma is Trauma”. The effects are the same, or similar, no matter the source.
I then reverted to an old theory I had concerning “Aspects of Humans”. I started making a chart at how we are affected in these various aspects of life. The chart could not contain all the information so I expanded the chart. I started writing what turned into eighty pages of research.
Having completed the research to my satisfaction, I then set the manuscript aside. I was now, beyond, Beyond Recovery. Our small group was now discussing how to form a group for male victims of rape. However, I knew getting people together is very difficult.
I then came across the blog of an old friend. The thought came to me “Instead of writing a worthless book that would never sell, or starting a group no one would attend, I could create a blog.” Anyone could join anytime from any place. The advantages were profound. Could this be direction of God?
This blog was originally designed for male victims of rape, however, since Trauma is Trauma, I expect it applies to everyone. Whether trying to handle the effects of a flood, tornado, earthquake, hurricane or mass shootings, whether your trauma was man made or natural, Trauma is Trauma and I invite you to join the discussion from your vantage point.
This is why I have invited friends of different vantage points to join the blog section. If you have a thought for a blog, please write me. Ceg@BeyondRecoveryCenter.net I try to keep the blog to 300 words.
