The best I have are a few theories. My guess is that pornography plays a big role in the addiction. For this reason, movies are not safe. Any illusion, no matter how subtle or brief can lead to a chemical rush leading to arousal. Masturbation relieves the hormonal buildup, but is not satisfying. Fantasies have no basis in reality. Write me with your comments and observations on this.
I need you to try an experiment. I want to know the results. I know there are other, better programs out there such as “Every Man’s Struggle” but try this and let me know. Keep away from everything that causes arousal. No that does not work because arousal is a natural part of the sleep cycle. Keep away from porn and soft porn, movies etc. This is going to be one of those “One day at a time” things. Maybe even one hour at a time.
Keep away from suggestive music. If you find the music causes an arousal, strike it from your repartee. The experiment is this: see if keeping away from stimuli helps.
Now, that’s part A. But we are dealing with messed up brains. What are some of the factors leading to the desire for release? Fatigue, stress, depression? Fill in the blank. This is your brain. Where is it messed up? Keep a record of the stressors. Let me know. Then we can work on the next step. The purpose is to return to reality, to become healthy. Let’s do this together.
